Our long-standing CEO (Chief Entertainment Officer), Nicola Spink recently corraled a group of us down to Tower Paintball at London Bridge (http://www.towerpaintball.com/).  Unsurprisingly, it all got a bit heated and Lisa 'Liquidator' Baxter made Rambo look like a tomblyboo.  Alex 'Hitman' Hofmann and Freddie 'Kruger' Joyce were similarly ruthless, which just goes to prove that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover.

Calastone expands into Guildhall

Meeting rooms at Kings House have been hard to come by recently, so we've taken to having team meetings outside.  Here we have the head of RM,head of business analysis,  head of sales and European bus. dev. MD having a team meeting outside the Guildhall. 

Happy 50th birthday, Dave!

Dave West, the Englishman with the most authentic Aussie accent west of Perth turned 50 today, so we decided to have a few glasses of champagne to celebrate.  Dave runs the infrastructure team at Calastone and he's been here longer than most people can remember.  The place wouldn't be the same without him.  Happy birthday, Dave!

Calastone Luxembourg 1 year anniversary party

The great and the good of the Luxembourg funds industry gathered at Bar Gloss on Avenue John F. Kennedy on 29th June for a bit of a knees up and a few litres of beer to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of the opening of Calastone's Luxembourg office.

We are now live with 36 cross-border fund groups and the number is growing by approximately 1 per week.  Distributors in the UK and continental Europe can send fund instructions to all these groups at zero cost.

And now to the party:  according to Wikipedia, Luxembourg has the highest worldwide per capita consumption of alcohol; an average of three beers a day for every man, woman, and child.   I'd say this was a gross under-estimation based on what I saw last Wednesday.!

Apparently, this high consumption can partially be attributed to cross-border shoppers from Belgium and France purchasing lower priced alcohol, but I prefer the headline-grabbing sensationalism of the original story...

Anyway, thank you to everyone who came along to help us celebrate our first birthday in Luxembourg and thank you to Sebastien, Joel and Nenad for laying on such a great party.  Pictures below:

 

Calastone Golf Day, New Zealand GC, 26th May 2011

We were delighted to welcome 20 clients to the New Zealand Club in Surrey on 26th May and I've posted below a few photos of the winners and losers on the day.

Trevor Briggs of BNYM won the overall prize with a remarkable 41 points playing off 13, Chris Northwood (IFDS) and Matt Littlefield (MFS) came in second and third with 33 points each.

Trevor normally plays his golf here, but he coped admirably with the conditions...

So a few of us were out for drinks last night to celebrate the launch of a new TA fund range on Calastone and we booked a table at Browns.  And what happens if you ask a new relationship manager with a broad Aussie accent to book the table for Calastone?  You get Carla Stone!

Funds industry Charity Shield - Save the date!

Calastone will be hosting the inaugural five-a-side funds industry Charity Shield in aid of Help for Heroes on Thursday 20th January 2011. 

Invitations were sent out in the post yesterday and places are strictly limited to a maximum of 25 teams.  If you have not received an invitation to this event and you would like to put a team together, please call Anna Graziano urgently.
